Passenger Killed, Driver Critically Injured in Long Beach Crash
LONG BEACH (March 18, 2018) – One person was killed, and another was seriously injured following an alleged DUI collision on Los Coyotes Diagonal, according to the Orange County Register.
The accident happened on Friday at approximately 7 p.m.
Primary reports indicated that a 54-year-old man from Long Beach was driving a Maserati Quattroporte in the area of Los Coyotes Diagonal and Outer Traffic Circle at about 6:55 p.m.
The driver was traveling at a high rate of speed when he made a left turn and lost control of the vehicle. The Maserati then crashed into a tree along the roadway, and came to a rest in front of the 4600 block of Los Coyotes Diagonal.
Officials said the impact caused the vehicle to be split in half.

The driver was reportedly ejected from the car as a result of the collision and was found on the road. The man was then taken by paramedics to a hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
Meanwhile, first responders found another person involved in the accident. A passenger in the Maserati reportedly suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The name of the deceased has not been yet released pending notification of family, however officials described him as a 42-year-old man from Buena Park.
Preliminary investigation convinced the authorities that alcohol may be a factor in the deadly crash. Further investigation is underway.
