Employee Fatally Struck by Vehicle at Anaheim and Magnolia Thursday
LONG BEACH, Ca (July 24, 2020) – A liquor store employee, possibly a security guard, died in a suspected hit-and-run collision at the intersection of Anaheim Street and Magnolia Avenue.
According to KTLA5 News, the store clerk was trying to stop a thief when the deadly crash took place. The employee apparently climbed the hood of the sedan of the thief, who subsequently drove the car.
The thief reportedly travelled for about three blocks away from the store. When they approached the Long Beach junction, the thief maneuvered to get the clerk off the car.
Detectives determined the employee fell onto the eastbound side of Anaheim Street, where he was subsequently struck by an oncoming utility van.

The collision resulted in fatal injuries to the clerk. Pending confirmation and notification of next of kin, the identity of the deceased remained undisclosed.
Meanwhile, officers confirmed the thief and the driver of the utility van both fled the scene after the incident. No immediate information was available on the hit-and-run suspects.
Further investigation on the case is underway.
