Man, 33, Killed in Long Beach Hit-and-Run on 710 Freeway Near Ninth Street
LONG BEACH, CA (October 5, 2021) – A man was killed after a hit-and-run crash on the 710 Freeway near Ninth Street in Long Beach.
According to The Press Telegram and My News LA, the tragic accident took place early Tuesday. Officers reported the collision at about 3 a.m.
The incident happened when a 33-year-old man was walking along the right shoulder of the northbound 710 Freeway in Long Beach.
Police said he crossed into lanes of traffic near the Ninth Street off-ramp. For an unknown reason, a vehicle then struck the pedestrian.
Victim Hit by Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and then found him left lying on the ground. They soon pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The name of the deceased party remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver did not stop to render aid to the man and fled the area.
They described the car as a white colored SUV. Officers forced the northbound side of the 710 Freeway to shut down following the collision.
