Personal Injury Lawyer
California has several right of way laws that apply to the pedestrians. These laws include the obligation of the drivers to exercise due care and lessen the speed of their cars while approaching a pedestrian within any marked or unmarked crosswalk.
In this case, authorities are investigating several factors such as alcohol or drugs, excessive speed, distracted driving and negligence to determine who will be held liable for causing the incident. Once the investigation process is over and it proves that a party has been negligent and seriously injured the man, the victim may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit against the at-fault individual. The claim will include the compensation for all the hospital bills, future medical needs, lost wages and pain and suffering.
