Girl, 14, Critically Injured in Accident at Chevron Gas Station in Long Beach
LONG BEACH (January 18, 2020) – A teenage pedestrian was critically injured after an accident at a gast station near Alamitos Avenue and Broadway Saturday.
According to reports by The Press Telegram and NBC Los Angeles, officers received a call about the tragic accident at around 11:25 a.m.
Police said a 14-year-old girl was struck by a red Tesla at a Chevron gas station, located near the intersection of Alamitos Avenue and East Broadway.
Teen Pedestrian Hit by Tesla in Long Beach Parking Lot
The incident began when for an unknown reason the Tesla spun out of control. The vehicle went through a flower bed, hit the teen and then possibly slammed into three other cars in the parking lot.
Paramedics responded to the scene and found the girl down on the ground and suffering from life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash.
Medical personnel rushed the young victim to the hospital in critical condition. Her name was not immediately available.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the female driver of the Tesla was also hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the incident.
