Head-on Crash on Solano Avenue Near Yountville in Napa County
NAPA COUNTY, California (March 13, 2019) – Two vehicles collided Tuesday afternoon in a head-on crash on Solano Avenue, near Hoffman Lane just south of Yountville.
The California Highway Patrol reported the crash about 3:32 p.m. in unincorporated Napa County.
Lewis Alexander Ort, 47, of Angwin, died in the collision and a woman and child were hurt.
Police say the man was driving against traffic in the northbound lane of Solano Avenue when he crashed at high speed into a 2004 Porsche driven by Lorene McCaffrey, 54, of Napa.
The man died at the scene of the crash, but McCaffrey and her juvenile passenger both suffered minor injuries. Paramedics transported McCaffrey by ambulance to Queen of the Valley Medical Center. The child was picked up by their father to seek care separately.
Preliminary results of the CHP investigation revealed that all occupants in both vehicles were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
