Lori Hooper, 60, Killed in Placerville DUI Crash on Highway 50
PLACERVILLE, CA (April 26, 2022) – Lori Hooper was killed after a DUI crash on Highway 50 in Placerville.
Police identified the 60-year-old Pollock Pines resident as one of the victims in the fatal wreck on Saturday.
The incident happened when Lori Hooper was riding as a passenger on a 1995 Harley-Davidson motorcycle along Highway 50 in Placerville.
Police said a 2015 Jeep Cherokee then slammed into the motorcycle. They crashed on the eastbound side of Highway 50 near Broadway Drive.
Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Wreck
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and found both riders lying on the ground as a result of the collision. Lori Hooper died at the scene of the crash.
An air ambulance took the driver of the motorcycle to a hospital for treatment of major injuries. The Sacramento Bee and ABC 10 News wrote that the accident occurred on April 23 at around 6:47 p.m.
Meanwhile, police determined that the man driving the car was under the influence of alcohol when he hit the victims. They soon arrested him for DUI causing injury and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
