2 Killed, 1 Hurt in Bakersfield Crash on China Grade Loop
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Feb. 12, 2019) – Joshua James Andrews, 27, of Porterville, and his passenger, Lori Sue Soto, 32, were identified as the two people who died Monday night in a car accident on China Grade Loop in Oildale.
Anderews was driving a Dodge Challenger eastbound on China Grade Loop at a “very high rate of speed” struck another vehicle in a fatal crash, the California Highway Patrol said. The driver allegedly ran through a red traffic light at Manor Street and was struck by an oncoming Dodge Ram pickup truck.
The impact split the Challenger into two pieces. Andrews and Soto, his passenger, were both killed.
The 33-year-old Bakersfield man driving the pickup truck suffered major injuries and was taken to a hospital.
The CHP is investigating whether or not alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
