
3 Injured in a Collision on Highway 101
LOS ALAMOS, Calif. (Jan. 10, 2025) — Three people were injured in a car accident involving at least two vehicles Friday afternoon on Highway 101 between Orcutt and Los Alamos.
The traffic accident occurred on northbound US 101 around 2:05 p.m. on Jan. 10th, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch.
Emergency crews from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, the CHP, and American Medical Response responded to Highway 101 near Cat Canyon Road. Also, a CalStar medical helicopter was requested and then canceled.
The drivers of a white Toyota pickup truck with a camper shell and Mercedes G-Wagon were involved and they wound up in the center divider, the report said. Several freeway signs were knocked over in the crash.
At least one person became trapped in a vehicle and firefighters extricated them.
Paramedics transported three people by ambulances to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria.
One of those people had major injuries and two others were treated for moderate injuries, fire officials said.
Meanwhile, at least one dog was taken from the crash scene by Santa Barbara County Animal Services to the Santa Maria shelter.
Tow trucks removed the Toyota due to major front-end damage and the Mercedes had major left-side damage and a missing front tire on the left side.
Finally, the California Highway Patrol is heading up the investigation into the circumstances.
