LOS ANGELES, California (July 9, 2017) — Three people were injured and one has died in a collision involving at least two motorists Sunday morning at 135th Street and Broadway, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The LAFD reported to the crash about 10:10 a.m. in the Rosewood community in unincorporated Los Angeles County.

One of the individuals died of their injuries at the scene. The California Highway Patrol was on the scene to help those involved and they are investigating the cause of the crash and liability.

Liability for Accidents

After police complete their investigation into an accident and determine fault, it’s up to anyone who is hurt to take steps to obtain financial compensation for their losses. If there is a fatality, a family member will need to file a claim. Those who are injured may need ongoing medical care such as physical therapy to get better. Whether it’s medical bills or lost time off work, the aftermath of a traffic accident can be costly and if it’s not your fault the other side should pay? Well yes, technically, but will they pay the full amount that you are owed? That depends on whether you attempt to negotiate with the insurance company yourself or you hire an experienced attorney to go to bat for you. Johnson Attorneys Group has skilled negotiators who will make sure you get fully compensated for all of your losses. Call us for a free consultation at 800-235-6801.

The first thing you should do is contact an attorney. Without the representation of a lawyer, insurance companies might make contact with you directly, and since they are trained to protect their best interests, this could mean a loss of rights on your behalf, especially if you unknowingly sign something that they didn't completely explain to you. Handling a personal injury claim by yourself is very difficult. You will deal directly with the insurance adjuster who is often trained to obtain the information they are not entitled to use. This information can negatively impact and de-value your case. Once your case is damaged, it is very difficult to repair it and usually costs you thousands of dollars less in a settlement.
