The accident took place just before 2 a.m. at West 2nd and Emerald streets.
As per the article, Los Angeles police said 47-year-old Eugenia Pelagio was struck by a vehicle at the intersection. She was immediately taken to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Pelagio was a resident of Anaheim.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver did not stop to render aid and fled the scene east on 2nd Street. The suspect car was described as a gray SUV, possibly a Ford Explorer.
