1 Killed, 1 Badly Injured in Los Angeles Crash on 10 Freeway Near Santa Fe Avenue
LOS ANGELES, CA (October 3, 2021) – A car crash killed one person and badly injured another on the 10 Freeway near Santa Fe Avenue in Los Angeles.
According to the NBC Los Angeles and My News LA, the tragic accident took place on Sunday morning. Officers reported the wreck shortly after 5 a.m.
The incident began when a vehicle crashed for an unknown reason and became disabled on the eastbound 10 Freeway in Los Angeles. Its motorist left and fled the area.
A 2006 BMW 328i approached and then slammed into the stalled car. The California Highway Patrol said the two collided, just west of Santa Fe Avenue.
2 Vehicles Collide
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and soon found the two occupants of the BMW hurt as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel rushed them to the Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center where the passenger, a 37-year-old Baldwin Park woman, died.
The driver, a 51-year-old El Monte man, sustained moderate injuries upon impact. The names of the deceased and wounded victims have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, CHP forced the eastbound lanes of the 10 Freeway to shut down for several hours near Santa Fe following the wreck. The fatal Los Angeles crash is still under investigation.
