1 Killed, 1 Injured in Los Angeles Hit-and-Run Near Manchester and Avalon
LOS ANGELES, CA (November 7, 2021) – A hit-and-run crash killed a pedestrian and injured another near Manchester Avenue and Avalon Boulevard in Los Angeles.
According to the CBS Los Angeles and My News LA, the tragic accident took place on Friday evening. Officers reported the wreck on November 5 at about 6:15 p.m.
The incident began when a vehicle was going east on Manchester Avenue, making a left turn on Avalon Boulevard, in South Los Angeles. At the same time, another car was traveling west.
Police said the eastbound vehicle slammed into the other car for an unknown reason. One of them spun counter-clockwise and then struck two pedestrians who were standing on the northwest corner of the intersection.
Pedestrians Hit by Car
One victim, a female, sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision which happened in the Florence community. Paramedics rushed her to an area hospital, where she died.
The other pedestrian survived with minor injuries. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver going east did not stop to render aid and fled. Officers forced the area of Manchester Avenue and Avalon Boulevard to shut down following the collision.
