Pedestrian Injured in Hit-and-Run Accident at Santa Monica and Sawtelle Boulevards

September 27, 2018 – An unidentified pedestrian was injured after being struck by an alleged drunk driver in the area of Santa Monica and Sawtelle boulevards.
According to ABC News, the accident happened on August 4, Saturday.
Primary reports indicated a 64-year-old pedestrian was on the sidewalk leaving a nearby theater. The elderly was reportedly struck by a passing Bird electric scooter driven by 28-year-old Nicholas Kauffroath.
The impact thrown the victim onto the ground. It was not immediately disclosed if the man was taken to the hospital or was provided treatment at the location. The identity of the elderly have not been disclosed thus far.

Meanwhile, officials mentioned Kauffroath failed to stop after hitting the pedestrian. Shortly after the incident, Kaufforath was located near the crash site and was then taken into custody. As per the article, the suspect was placed on 36 months of probation, ordered to pay a $550 fine and also required to complete a three-month DUI alcohol program.
