Vehicle Catches Fire After Rear-End Collision
LOS ANGELES (December 14, 2018)- According to the California Highway Patrol, a car accident took place this morning at or near the intersection of Normandie and Raymond avenues.
At roughly 10: 28 a.m., CHP was notified of a rear-end collision after an alleged Kia Forte struck an unknown vehicle from the rear.
The collision caused one of the vehicles to quickly catch fire and engulf in flames.
Injuries were confirmed to the driver struck from behind, however, to what degree remains unclear at this time as the vehicle’s driver was transported via ambulance to the hospital.
The report did not mention which of the vehicles caught fire as the fire department was notified to assist in putting out the flames.
No additional details were provided in the dispatch log as authorities currently remain at the scene as of 11:30 a.m.

A forensic examination of all four vehicles involved, as well as photos that were taken of the scene, will help investigators determine which party ultimately caused the accident. Authorities will thoroughly look into how fast each driver was going, which driver had the right-of-way, whether or not alcohol or drugs were involved, and whether or not there were any mechanical issues with either vehicle. The investigation will also consist of looking at measurements of evidence left by each vehicle such as point of impact, final resting positions of each vehicle, skid marks, and gouge marks.
