The incident took place on Fletcher Drive at roughly 11:10 p.m. as Coreas crossed the street to grab a soda from the liquor store. Moments later, the 19-year-old teen was struck by an unknown vehicle.
The vehicle’s driver failed to stop and render aid and proceeded to drive away and flee the scene.
Coreas was rushed to USC Med Center, where he succumbed to his injuries several days later.
Authorities have pulled surveillance footage and have provided a vehicle description as possibly a red pickup truck with a mattress in the bed of the truck or a beige minivan.
