The woman, who is about 30 years old, was struck about 6:10 p.m. near Central Avenue. She was walking or crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk. The Los Angeles Fire Department rushed the injured woman to a local hospital to be treated for major injuries suffered in the crash.
Police are searching for the suspect driver who is believed to be in a black sedan. Typically, if a driver is not found, the city of Los Angeles will offer a reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
“Drivers who flee the scene of the crash where they have hurt someone are not only felons, they are cowards,” said Attorney James Johnson. “I hope they are able to find this person and provide justice to this woman.”
