Hernandez was arrested on Thursday, August 24, roughly two years after the alleged assault took place. Hernandez, who had worked at the music school since 2011, was fired from the school after they were alerted about what happened. Police say, however, that he also gave students private lessons.
His alleged victim, who is now 17 years old, recently alerted authorities about the incident.
Authorities are concerned there could be more young people who could have potentially been assaulted by Hernandez because of the nature of his job working with youth.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department Special Victims Detail is investigating the allegations. Police say a 20-year-old woman had previously reported inappropriate conduct by Hernandez when she was age 16, but charges have not been filed in that case yet.
Police are asking anyone with information to call investigators at (714) 647-7419 or (714) 647-7000.
