LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Dec. 30, 2022) – Luis Alvares, 64, died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident Monday night at 50th Street and Alameda Street in the Central-Alameda area of Los Angeles.
Authorities located the deceased man in the roadway after two vehicles struck him and both drivers left the scene, police said.
Police believe the pedestrian was walking outside of a crosswalk and was hit by the first vehicle about 10 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 26th.
The Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations Center reported the second vehicle most likely struck the victim while he was already down in the roadway. This driver also kept driving without stopping to help the victim or call for police.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office later identified the victim as Luis Alvares.
An investigation is underway by the LAPD to locate the suspects.
