Luis Hernandez Killed in Newark Bicycle vs. Car Accident
NEWARK, Calif. (Nov. 6, 2018) — Luis Hernandez, 53, of Newark, has been identified as the bicyclist who died in a collision with a motorist on Thursday night at Cedar Boulevard and Milani Avenue, the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office coroner’s bureau said.
The collision took place just after 9:20 p.m. on Nov. 1st.
The injured bicyclist was found by police with no helmet down in the roadway.
The driver in the sedan stopped and cooperated with investigators. So far, police do not suspect alcohol or drugs as factors.
The roadway was closed off on Cedar in both directions between Thornton and Civic Terrace avenues for several hours.
It’s unknown at this time whether or not any criminal charges will be filed.
