Fatal Crash on Needles (40) Freeway in Daggett
DAGGETT, Calif. (Sept. 28, 2022) — Lupe Tijerina Martinez, 69, of Victorville, died in a Daggett car accident early Friday, Sept. 23rd on the westbound I-40 Needles Freeway, just east of Barstow.
The collision occurred on Needles Freeway about 4:29 a.m. on Sept. 23rd, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The Victorville woman was driving a white sedan that reportedly went off the freeway into a ditch, the report said. A semi-truck stopped following the crash, but it’s unknown if it was involved or if this was a solo collision.
Paramedics and firefighters with CAL Fire responded to help those involved. They extricated the woman who was trapped in a vehicle. It’s unknown at this time if they were any passengers. The San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner identified the woman on its website.
Investigators with the California Highway Patrol – Barstow station are working on the case to determine fault.
