Lyft Driver Andy Van Pham, 30, Kills Passenger in Tustin Car Crash

TUSTIN, CA (July 22, 2021) – Authorities detained Lyft driver Andy Van Pham after a fatal car crash in Tustin earlier this year.

Police identified the 30-year-old man as the motorist who fell asleep at the wheel when the collision occurred on April 4.

The incident happened when Lyft driver Andy Van Pham was traveling in the area of Jamboree Road and Patriot Way in Tustin. He allegedly dozed off and slammed into a light pole.

His passenger at the time died as a result of the wreck. The name of the deceased victim remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin.

KTLA News wrote that the accident took place at around 7 a.m. Meanwhile, Tustin police conducted their investigation and determined that Andy Van Pham was driving with negligence at the time.

The Orange County Superior Court soon issued an arrest warrant for him on July 20. Authorities booked him into Orange County Jail on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter with ordinary negligence.

They took him into custody in lieu of a $10,000 bail. The man pleaded not guilty to the manslaughter charge and possession of drug paraphernalia.
