Gilberto Suasteguijaimes, 43, Injured in Sonoma County Hit-and-Run on Highway 12
SONOMA COUNTY, CA (June 27, 2021) – A hit-and-run crash injured Lyft driver Gilberto Suasteguijaimes on Highway 12 in Sonoma County.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 43-year-old El Verano man as one of the two victims in the accident which occurred on Thursday night.
The incident began when Gilberto Suasteguijaimes was driving a 2021 Toyota Prius as a Lyft ride west on Highway 12 in Sonoma County.
An Acura traveling at a high rate of speed approached and then slammed into the rear of the Toyota. CHP said the Prius ended up with crushed rear and tires as a result of the collision.

Lyft Driver and Passenger Hit by Speeding Car
Paramedics arrived and soon rushed Suasteguijaimes to the Kaiser Santa Rosa Medical Center for treatment. They took the other patient to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for further aid.
The Press Democrat and KRON 4 News wrote that the wreck took place on June 24 at about 10:42 p.m. Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the speeding driver did not stop to render aid to the victims.
The motorist continued and fled south on Llano Road. Officers described the Acura as a gray, 4-door sedan, possibly a 2009 or 2010 TSX model.
The hit-and-run car that hit Gilberto Suasteguijaimes obtained major front-end damage due to the impact of the collision. Authorities are still searching for the suspect.
The Sonoma County hit-and-run crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the CHP at (707) 588-1400.
