Lesther Deleon, 37, Killed in Palmdale Hit-and-Run Street Racing Crash
PALMDALE, CA (June 9, 2021) – Lyft driver Lesther Deleon was killed after a hit-and-run street racing crash in Palmdale.
CBS Los Angeles and My News LA wrote that the 37-year-old man died following the wreck which took place on Wednesday.
The incident began when Lesther Deleon was driving a Toyota Corolla as a ride-hailing car on Rancho Vista Boulevard in Palmdale.
Simultaneously, a Dodge Challenger was racing another vehicle in the No. 2 lane of westbound Rancho Vista. The Dodge was traveling at a high rate of speed at that time.
Fatal Crash Near 11th Street West and Rancho Vista Boulevard
Deputies said the Challenger then hit the rear of the Toyota. The Corolla spun out of control and struck a light pole near the intersection with 11th Street West.
The Lyft vehicle overturned and soon became fully engulfed in flames. Lesther Deleon ended up thrown from the Toyota as a result of the street racing crash.
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded and pronounced Lesther Deleon and his female passenger dead at the scene. The fatal accident occurred at about 12:30 a.m.
The speeding driver exited the Dodge, jump into an Infiniti and sped away. The Challenger is registered to EAN Holdings LLC., which manages Alamo, Enterprise and National car rentals.
Meanwhile, officers are still searching for the hit-and-run motorist. The Palmdale street racing crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station at 661-272-2400.
