Lyft Passenger Margie Quibol, 70, Killed in Tustin Crash Near Jamboree and Patriot

TUSTIN, CA (July 23, 2021) – A crash killed Lyft Passenger Margie Quibol near Jamboree Road and Patriot Way in Tustin.

The sheriff’s department identified the 70-year-old Tustin woman as the victim of the fatal wreck which took place on April 4.

The incident happened when Margie Quibol was riding as a Lyft passenger near the intersection of Jamboree Road and Patriot Way in Tustin.

Deputies said the driver, 30-year-old Andy Van Pham, fell asleep at the wheel and struck a light pole in the area. KTLA News and My News LA wrote that the accident occurred at around 7 a.m.

Margie Quibol died as a result of the Tustin crash. Meanwhile, police conducted their investigation and determined that Andy Van Pham was driving with negligence at the time.

The Orange County Superior Court soon issued an arrest warrant for him on July 20. Authorities booked him into Orange County Jail on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter with ordinary negligence.

They took him into custody in lieu of a $10,000 bail. The man pleaded not guilty to the manslaughter charge and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He also denied providing false information to a police officer, and making an unsafe turn or lane change. The Lyft company filed the suspect following the collision.
