Ruci Salato, 30, Injured in Sonoma County Hit-and-Run Crash on Highway 12
SONOMA COUNTY, CA (June 27, 2021) – Lyft passenger Ruci Salato was hospitalized after a hit-and-run crash on Highway 12 in Sonoma County.
The California Highway Patrol said the 30-year-old Sebastopol man ended up injured following the wreck which occurred on Thursday night.
The incident happened when Ruci Salato was riding as a Lyft passenger in a 2021 Toyota Prius west on Highway 12 in Sonoma County.
At the same time, an Acura was traveling at a high rate of speed behind the Toyota. CHP determined that the speeding vehicle approached and then struck the back of the Prius.
Speeding Driver Hits Lyft Driver and Passenger
The Press Democrat and KRON 4 News wrote that the accident took place on June 24 at about 10:42 p.m. Both cars obtained major damage upon impact.
Paramedics arrived and found Ruci Salato and the Lyft driver hurt as a result of the Highway 12 crash. The motorist in the Acura did not stop to help the victims and sped south on Llano Road.
Medical personnel soon took Ruci Salato to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment. They transported the other wounded party to the Kaiser Santa Rosa Medical Center for further aid.
Authorities are still searching for the hit-and-run suspect that wounded Ruci Salato. They described the car as a gray, 4-door Acura sedan, possibly a 2009 or 2010 TSX model.
The Sonoma County crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the CHP at (707) 588-1400.
