Woman, 20, Killed, Man Injured in Collision on Ellis Street
MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (July 10, 2023) — A fatal head-on crash in Madera Acres happened Monday on Ellis Street near Fairview Street.
The two-vehicle collision occurred around 4 a.m. on July 10th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Michael Messer, 38, was driving a full-size black Chevrolet pickup truck and reportedly veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a woman driving a silver Chevrolet Malibu sedan. The 20-year-year-old woman driving the car died at the scene and both vehicles were left with major front-end damage.
The man from the pickup truck suffered major injuries and was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno.
ABC 30 News reported the man was not wearing a seat belt and police are working to determine if drugs and or alcohol were factors in the crash.
Investigators are working on the case and closed down Ellis Street between Fairview Street and Country Club.
The case remains under investigation.
