1 Killed, 4 Injured in Madera County Crash Near Avenue 12 and Road 36 1/2
MONTEREY, CA (November 14, 2021) – A wrong-way crash killed one person and injured several others near Avenue 12 and Road 36 1/2 in Madera County.
The incident began when a Toyota RAV4 was traveling west in the eastbound lane of Avenue 12 at Road 36 1/2 in Madera County. At the same time, a white BMW was going east,
The California Highway Patrol said the Toyota then slammed head-on into the BMW. The two crashed in the Madera Ranchos area.
Wrong-Way Driver Hits Victims, Dies
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced the wrong-way driver dead at the scene. The woman driving the BMW and her passengers, three children, ended up hurt following the wreck.
Medical personnel rushed the children to Valley Children’s Hospital and the woman to the Community Regional Medical Center. They sustained unknown injuries due to the impact.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, CHP believed that the man operating the RAV4 was under the influence when he hit the other car.
Officers forced the area of Avenue 12 and Road 36 1/2 to shut down after the collision. The fatal Madera County crash is still under investigation.
