CHP first logged the incident at 1:42 p.m. when the driver of a vehicle described as a transport stepped on the brake for an unknown reason, prompting the crash.
As per the dispatch, a patient in a wheelchair hit his head upon impact and was then knocked unconscious.
Fire department personnel along with the paramedics responded to the scene and confirmed that at least one party was killed in the collision. The name of the victim has not been yet released pending notification of family.
It was not specified in the report if the deceased was the person in a wheelchair or another occupant in the vehicle involved.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
