In this case, Mr. Manuel Rosales is believed to have been driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision. DUI is considered as a serious crime throughout the state which has corresponding criminal penalties for the suspect. The kinds of the charges to be filed depend on factors including the prior convictions of the alleged DUI driver, the severity of the offense, the level of intoxication and the injuries caused to another individual.

Aside from drunk driving, the motorist is also accused of speeding prior to hitting the innocent victim. The family of the 17-year-old boy will have then the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit seeking a compensation for all the hospital bills, future medical needs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
