MADERA, California (December 13, 2016) — A driver lost control of their vehicle in a fatal rollover crash early Tuesday morning on the northbound Golden State Highway 99 at the Avenue 18 1/2 on ramp, a California Highway Patrol report said.
The fatal crash was reported to CHP officers about 4:50 a.m. today. After the driver lost control of the vehicle, police say it rolled off the on ramp and landed on its wheels roughly 70 feet off the roadway. The vehicle suffered major damage all over, police said. A witness told police the driver was passing other vehicles before the driver lost control.
At least one person died of their injuries, but the report did not specify any details.
Police are heading up an investigation into the crash to determine liability.
