
Man, 59, Identified as Victim of Collision into an Apartment
LOS FELIZ, Calif. (Jan. 16, 2025) – Mahammad Humbatov, 59, has been identified as the man who died after a driver crashed into his apartment on Western Avenue in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles.
Deputies from the Los Angeles police and fire departments responded to the crash scene around 1:38 a.m. at the Park Western Apartments, according to the LAFD report.
A 34-year-old woman driving a sedan reportedly lost control of her vehicle while attempting to make a left-hand turn. She slammed into an occupied apartment building at 1836 N. Western Ave., at Russell Avenue just south of Franklin Avenue.
Mahammad Humbatov and a 9-year-old boy who were inside the apartment became trapped underneath the vehicle.
Firefighters managed to extricate them, but the man died on scene, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Paramedics transported the injured boy to a hospital in a serious condition, the LAFD report said.
The driver of the vehicle was treated at the hospital for minor injuries.
Finally, a total of seven people who lived in the building were displaced due to the wreckage and gaping hole in the wall.
