Mai Yang, Koua Xiong and Shor Xiong Killed in Friant Head-On Crash
FRIANT (March 14, 2020) – Three women killed after a traffic collision along Millerton Road early Friday have been identified.
California Highway Patrol said Fresno residents Mai Yang, 74; Koua Vang Xiong, 54; and Shor Xiong, 60, died following the March 13 accident.
The three women were riding in the back of a 1998 Toyota Camry south on Millerton Road, south of Bellagio Road. At the same time, a 1995 Nissan pickup truck was going north.
James Vang and Nao Moua Seriously Injured in Millerton Road Crash
For an unknown reason, the truck driven by 64-year-old Ty Wood then crossed double-yellow lines and went into the southbound lane.
According to reports by The Fresno Bee and ABC 30, the pickup ultimately slammed head-on into the Toyota. The crash took place shortly before 2 a.m.
Paramedics responded and pronounced the three women and Wood dead at the scene. The driver and another passer in the Camry was rushed to the hospital with major injuries.
Officers named the wounded victims as 60-year-old James Vang, of Fresno; and 50-year-old Nao Y. Moua. The cause of the tragic incident remains under investigation.
