Major Injury Traffic Collision on Auburn Folsom Road
AUBURN, Calif., (May 8, 2026) — A multi-vehicle crash resulted in major injuries Thursday afternoon on Auburn Folsom Road at Placer Canyon Parkway in Granite Bay.
The incident was reported on May 7th at approximately 5:37 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch logs. The crash involved a gray Mercedes SUV and a tan Jeep, with at least one vehicle catching fire. Initial reports indicated that a driver was trapped inside one of the vehicles with a medium-sized mixed-breed dog.
Emergency responders, including Placer County Sheriff’s Office and Placer Fire Department, arrived promptly at the scene. Units reported seeing flames and worked to extricate the trapped parties. The fire was extinguished shortly after, and one or more individuals were transported to a local hospital with major injuries.
The dispatcher logs noted that the driver of one of the vehicles was unable to retrieve their dog at the scene. Animal Control was notified to assist with the friendly canine.
The incident remains under investigation by the authorities, who are asking any witnesses to come forward with information that might aid their inquiry into the cause of the collision.
