Two Seriously Injured in Collision on State Route 4

CALAVERAS COUNTY, Calif., (March 24, 2026) — A serious multi-vehicle crash on Highway 4 near Dunton Road happened early Tuesday morning in the Telegraph City area of Calaveras County.

The incident occurred on March 24th at 6:46 AM in the westbound lanes, involving a red Dodge Durango and a white Acura. According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was initially reported as a head-on collision, with the vehicles traveling at speeds of 55 mph and 60 mph, respectively.

Two Hospitalized with Major Injuries

Emergency responders, including the fire department and American Medical Response (AMR), were promptly dispatched to the scene. Two individuals reportedly sustained significant injuries: one with a head injury and another with internal injuries, both conscious at the time of the report. The collision also caused a brush fire nearby, which was quickly addressed by fire crews.

The road was reportedly blocked in all lanes during the emergency response, but tow trucks from Haidlen Tow and TNT Tow were later summoned to clear the area.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the collision and are urging any witnesses to come forward with information that may aid in the investigation.
