Head-on Crash on Kanan Road Near Malibu
CORNELL, Calif. (July 17, 2023) — Three people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash today on southbound Kanan Road, just north of Tunnel 3 in Cornell, just north of Malibu.
The collision occurred around 1:31 p.m. on July 17th in the Santa Monica Mountains, just north of Rocky Mountain Oaks Estate Vineyards, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch.
The drivers of a gray pickup truck and a Kia Sol sedan.
A witness called 911 to report the crash and told operators the driver in the Kia Sol was ahead of her vehicle when she saw it go off the roadway. The Kia driver reportedly came back onto the road behind the witness’ car and veered into oncoming traffic before colliding with the pickup truck.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to help those injured and brought two ambulances to transport victims to hospitals. Also, a third person was airlifted by helicopter to a hospital.
Tow trucks removed the damaged vehicles and investigators are working on the case to determine fault for the crash on Kanan Road.
