Two-Vehicle Crash on Ben Hulse Highway (SR-78)
IMPERIAL COUNTY, Calif. (August 28, 2026) — A car accident involving two vehicles resulted in serious injuries Thursday night on Highway 78 just east of Casey Road in Brawley.
The collision occurred at approximately 8:09 p.m. on August 27th and involved a white Chevrolet Equinox, the CHP reported. Both lanes of State Route 78 were reportedly blocked due to the collision, causing significant traffic disruption in the area. Details emerging from the California Highway Patrol’s log indicate that emergency responders were promptly dispatched to the scene.
Victims Airlifted for Medical Treatment
Two individuals involved in the crash sustained major injuries and were both airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center for further medical care. Their conditions remain unknown at this time. Emergency medical personnel, including the Brawley Fire Department, were actively involved in the rescue operations, coordinating with airship services to expedite medical attention.
