Major Injury Crash at Snelling Road and La Paloma Road, Merced County

MERCED, Calif., (April 29, 2026) — A major injury traffic collision occurred Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Snelling Road, just north of La Paloma Road in Merced County.

The incident was reported on April 29th at approximately 12:48 p.m., possibly involving multiple vehicles, including one reportedly loaded with hay, according to the California Highway Patrol. Upon arrival, emergency responders found all lanes blocked as they worked to extricate individuals from the wreckage.

Firefighters from Engine 97 were on the scene, diligently working on the extrication process, while paramedics from AMR responded to transport the injured person to a hospital. Emergency responders reported the individuals involved were conscious during the extrication efforts.

The incident was initially categorized as a traffic collision with injuries but was later updated to a major injury collision by the CHP. Traffic was significantly impacted as fire crews continued their work on site, and towing services from All Ways Towing were dispatched to assist in vehicle recovery.

Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances leading to the collision and are urging any witnesses to come forward with information that may assist in the investigation.
