Major Injury Solo-Vehicle Traffic Collision on Highway 139
ALTURAS, Calif., (May 8, 2026) — A rollover crash involving major injuries happened Friday on Highway 139 or Tickner Road in Boles, about 32 miles west of Alturas in Modoc County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The traffic accident occurred on May 8th at approximately 10:12 a.m. near mile marker 139, the report said. Initial reports indicate that a vehicle left the roadway, rolling over and landing on its roof approximately 40 feet from the road. The vehicle was reportedly carrying four individuals, including two adults and a child.
Emergency responders arrived on the scene to find a male occupant trapped inside the vehicle, while two females and a child had managed to exit the vehicle. The severity of the injuries necessitated the dispatch of a helicopter to transport the injured parties.
The roadway was cleared by 12:59 p.m., allowing normal traffic flow to resume. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of this serious accident and are urging any witnesses to come forward with information that might assist in their inquiries.
