Major Injury Crash Highway 299 Near Arcata in Humboldt County

HUMBOLDT, Calif., (June 16, 2026) — A crash involving major injuries occurred Tuesday afternoon on Highway 299 near mile marker 240 in Arcata, Humboldt County.
The incident was reported on June 16th at approximately 3:40 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. Initial reports indicate that one vehicle reportedly spun out and left the road, and multiple vehicles pulled over to help.
According to the CHP incident log, several occupants sustained injuries, including a mass injury to the leg, abrasions to the left arm, and a possible concussion. One individual suffered a laceration on the left arm and a head injury. Emergency responders, including paramedics and the California Highway Patrol, arrived promptly on the scene to provide aid and manage traffic.
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) assisted with a closure of the #2 lane to facilitate the emergency response. Buddy’s Towing was summoned to clear the roadway of damaged vehicles.
