Major Injury Crash Highway 65 and Avenue 184 in Porterville

PORTERVILLE, Calif., (July 16, 2026) — A major injury crash involving two vehicles occurred Thursday afternoon on southbound Highway 65 at Avenue 184 in Porterville.
It happened on July 16th, at approximately 12:55 PM, between a silver sedan and a white pickup truck, with one of the vehicles reportedly veering into a ditch on the right-hand side of the road. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) initially categorized the accident as a traffic collision with emergency personnel en route, later reclassified it as a major injury incident.
Emergency responders, including Tulare County Fire, were dispatched to the scene to help those injured in the collision. Traffic was temporarily halted, and Caltrans was involved in diverting vehicles to mitigate congestion. Towing services were called for both vehicles involved in the collision.
