Major Injury Crash Snarls Morning Traffic on Westbound I-580

TRACY, Calif. (June 12, 2025) — A major injury collision in Tracy caused significant delays Thursday morning on the Interstate 580 Freeway, just west of Corral Hollow Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol the crash happened on westbound I-580 at approximately 5:39 a.m. on June 12th, 2025. The drivers involved were a gray Ford Focus, a pickup truck, and a blue sedan.

Emergency dispatch notes indicated one person was seriously injured, and by 5:42 a.m., first responders were working to keep the injured individual awake at the scene.

CHP logs show that the Stockton Fire Department was notified. Several tow trucks responded to remove a Ford Ranger pickup truck with significant front axle damage and a sedan with major front-end and rear-end damage in the No. 1 lane.

Paramedics responded to transport at least one person with major injuries. Also, the CHP Tracy reported a large pothole on the I-580 in the number two lane closed down westbound lanes and caused heavy traffic. It’s unknown if this pothole was the cause of the crash at 5:39 a.m. this morning or if the crash itself created the pothole.

Meanwhile, all westbound lanes were reportedly reopened by 6:20 a.m., though traffic remained congested in the area for some time afterward.

A tow request was later canceled around 7:47 a.m., and the incident remains under investigation.
