Major Injury Crash on Greenback Lane in Orangevale, CA
ORANGEVALE, Calif. (May 23, 2026) — A major-injury crash involving at least two vehicles shut down westbound lanes of Greenback Lane in Orangevale on Saturday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision was reported on May 23rd around 9:03 a.m. at the intersection of Greenback Lane and Walnut Avenue. Early CHP logs described the crash as involving a light blue Honda CR-V and a gold Chrysler 200.
Dispatch notes indicated the Chrysler was in the slow lane while the Honda CR-V was reportedly traveling in the center turn lane before the collision.
A second vehicle, described as a gold Ford sedan, was also reported at the scene.
By 9:18 a.m., CHP officers reported that all westbound lanes of Greenback Lane were blocked, with no estimated time for reopening. Tow trucks were requested for at least two damaged vehicles, and evidence towing was later authorized.
At approximately 10:46 a.m., the incident was upgraded from a traffic collision with unknown injuries to a “major injury” crash, indicating at least one person suffered serious injuries.
Traffic crews later reopened the No. 1 westbound lane around 10:21 a.m. while emergency personnel continued working the scene. One of the involved vehicles was towed to a facility operated by Central Valley Towing.
No additional information about the number of injured parties or the cause of the crash was immediately available. The collision remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
