Crash on Interstate 5 Freeway, Sunset Hills Drive Near Cottonwood

2-Vehicle Car Accident Interstate 5 Freeway

COTTONWOOD, Calif. (Oct. 9, 2023) — A major injury crash happened Monday on the Interstate 5 Freeway near the Sunset Hills Drive off ramp, just south of Cottonwood.

The two-vehicle collision occurred in the southbound lanes of the I-5 at around 1:40 p.m. on Oct. 9th, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials reported at least one person sustained major injuries so police closed down the roadway to allow a medical helicopter to land and transport the person to a hospital.

Tow trucks removed both vehicles from the roadway.

Investigators are working on the case to determine fault for the Cottonwood crash on the 5 Freeway.
