Major Injury Crash on State Route 99, North of Dillard Road in Elk Grove

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif., (July 28, 2026) — A major injury traffic collision involving a vehicle rollover happened in Elk Grove Tuesday morning on State Route 99 South, just north of Dillard Road.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported the incident on July 28th at approximately 7:24 a.m., with the initial dispatch reporting a grey Toyota Tundra pickup truck had collided with a grey sedan and an orange attenuator, causing the vehicle to roll over. The Highway 99 collision led to the blockage of the No. 1 Lane and necessitated emergency response from the Sacramento Fire Department, which arrived promptly on the scene.
The collision occurred in the South Sacramento area, with both lanes initially blocked but subsequently reopened as crews worked to clear the debris and restore normal traffic flow. A contractor was reportedly en route to assist, though delayed by traffic congestion.
