Major Injury Gilroy Crash Highway 101, State Route 152
5 Injured in Solo Car Accident on Highway 101
GILROY, Calif. (Jan. 18, 2024) — Five people were taken to the hospital Thursday morning after a solo crash in Gilory on northbound Highway 101, just north of State Route 152.
The collision occurred at around 6:57 a.m. on Jan. 18th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported a gray Toyota Corolla sedan crossed multiple traffic lanes, hit a tree and overturned behind a CHP station. The car caught on fire and one person was stuck and another “dragged out” of the vehicle unresponsive. All of the occupants were out of the vehicle within a few minutes of the crash.
Paramedics responded and transported three people with major injuries and two with minor injuries to hospitals for further treatment.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash on Highway 101 in Gilroy.
