Major Injury Motorcycle Accident Highway 52, San Diego
SAN DIEGO, Calif., (January 22, 2026) — A motorcycle accident involving at least one other motorist occurred on Highway 52 near Interstate 805 in San Diego, resulting in significant injuries.
The incident was reported in the westbound lanes of State Route 62 on Jan. 22nd around 10:13 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. Authorities received information about a solo motorcycle crash under several overpasses just west of Convoy Street. According to witnesses, the motorcycle and a Tesla were reportedly racing when the motorcycle began to speed wobble, causing the rider to lose control and veer into the bushes on the right-hand side of the highway.
Emergency responders arrived on the scene shortly after 10:15 a.m. to find the rider conscious but down on the roadside. The injured motorcyclist was down near a gray Silverado pickup truck that was possibly involved. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) updated the situation to a major injury collision, necessitating the need for immediate medical and towing assistance.
The rider, whose identity has not been disclosed, was reportedly stabilized and transported to a local hospital for further treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been specified, but they are described as major.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding this collision. They are urging any witnesses to come forward with information that may assist in determining the events leading up to the crash.
