Major Injury Traffic Collision on Cedar Ravine Road Near Placerville

PLACERVILLE, Calif., (January 22, 2026) — A major injury traffic collision occurred Wednesday afternoon involving a commercial dump truck and a second unidentified vehicle on Cedar Ravine Road at Quarry Road in Placerville.

The incident unfolded on Jan. 21st at 2:50 p.m. when a solo vehicle reportedly went over the side into a ditch, with the possibility of a second vehicle involved. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) updated the incident to a traffic collision with major injuries at 3:14 p.m., indicating the seriousness of the situation. The driver of the dumped truck sustained what appeared to be a head injury.

Emergency responders, including CAL FIRE, were dispatched to the scene shortly after the collision was reported. Additional support from CDF Camino was called to assist with the heavy wrecker needed for the commercial dump truck. Towing services were requested from AC Towing and WAP Towing to manage the vehicles involved.

The CHP is currently investigating the cause of the collision and is seeking assistance from any witnesses who may have observed the incident. Further details regarding the condition of those involved have not been disclosed at this time.
