Major Injury Traffic Collision on Highway 178 Near Lake Isabella

KERN COUNTY, Calif., (June 23, 2026) — A major injury collision involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck occurred Tuesday on westbound State Route 178, just west of mile marker 36, south of Lake Isabella in Kern County.

The California Highway Patrol was alerted to the incident on June 23rd at approximately 2:21 p.m. The collision involved a solo motorcycle and a pickup truck. The rider was reportedly down in the lanes, and the motorcycle was lying on the right-hand side of the road. Emergency responders, including paramedics and CHP officers, arrived at the scene shortly after the incident was reported.

According to the CHP incident log, the initial response categorized the collision as a “Trfc Collision-Major Inj.” The scene required the temporary closure of one lane as emergency personnel attended to the injured parties and cleared the roadway. BandM Towing was contacted, but the tow request was subsequently canceled.

The condition of the motorcycle rider and any passengers in the pickup truck has not been disclosed at this time. The incident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, who are seeking any witnesses to provide additional information about the circumstances leading up to the crash.
