Major Motorcycle Crash on I-605 Freeway, Carson Street in Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, Calif., (Sept. 21, 2026) — A major injury crash between a blue Nissan sedan and a motorcycle resulted in major injuries on the southbound Interstate 605 Freeway, just north of Carson Street, in Lakewood.

The incident occurred on Sept. 21st at approximately 8:57 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. Initial reports indicate that the motorcycle collided with the Nissan, leading to the motorcycle rider being thrown into the roadway. The rider managed to get up and move to the roadside with their bike.

Emergency responders, including fire department units, arrived on the scene by 9:11 a.m. and immediately began attending to the injured motorcyclist. The collision temporarily blocked the #4 lane as the scene was cleared. A tow truck from Balcaceres Brothers Tow was dispatched to remove the involved motorcycle from the scene.

The California Highway Patrol updated the severity of the incident from unknown injuries to a major injury collision, emphasizing the seriousness of the incident. Authorities have not released the identity of the motorcycle rider, who was reportedly transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

An investigation into the precise cause of the collision is ongoing, and authorities are appealing for any witnesses to come forward with information that could aid their inquiries.
